PLAZA

The Historic Folsom Station Plaza includes an event and market area, outdoor amphitheater, historic railroad turntable, railroad museum, and The Square, an outdoor museum and makerspace. The plaza makes up approximately 54% of Historic Folsom Station’s redevelopment.

AMPHITHEATER

The outdoor amphitheater, also known as the Zittel Family Amphitheater, was completed in 2012 and is used for live dance, theater, entertainment, and musical performances in the heart of Historic Folsom.

Event & Market Area

The event and market area hosts the year-round farmer’s market, seasonal ice rink, and many other special events throughout the year. The area extends from Reading Street between the Granite House and parking garage to and around the railroad turntable in front of the Roundhouse.

RAILROAD MUSEUM

The Railroad Museum is in a historic railroad coach next to the historic depot. This Pullman car serves as the museum office, exhibition area, library, and store. Visitors are welcome to visit and learn about the Sacramento Valley Railroad. For more information, visit www.fedshra.org or call 916-985-6001

HISTORIC DEPOT

The historic depot currently houses the Folsom Chamber of Commerce, Folsom Historic District Association, Gather and Toast Marketplace, and green room for amphitheater performers.

FOLSOM INTERPRETIVE CENTER

The Folsom Interpretive Center is a historically inspired makerspace. Visitors will enjoy a historic look at Folsom’s past through vehicles, machines, equipment, a miner’s cabin, a blacksmith shop, and a carriage shed. Visitors can even try their hand at gold panning. The center is located at 196 Wool Street, next to the historic depot. Operating hours are Saturday and Sunday, 11 am to 3 pm. Suggested admission is $5.00. For more information, visit www.folsomhistory.org or call (916) 985-2707.

Historic Railroad Turntable

This National Register of Historic Places landmark features a reconstruction of the original ‘A’ frame or “gallows” style railroad turntable used to turn locomotives around and provide access to the roundhouse. It was rebuilt on the original pivot stone.  Today, it is the centerpiece for the annual Christmas tree lighting and seasonal ice-skating rink.
